Queen of Latin Ballroom and head judge on BBC Strictly Come Dancing, Shirley Ballas discusses her latest novel, Dance to Death with Festival patron and author Elizabeth Buchan. 

After solving a series of murders at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, all Lily Richmond and Susie Cooper want is a peaceful Christmas. The last thing they expect is to find a dead body backstage at the Royal Albert Hall. Will the unlikely duo manage to wrap up the case in time to enjoy the holiday with their loved ones? Or is there a greater danger behind the scenes than they could have imagined?

Shirley Ballas is Queen of Latin Ballroom, an author, and head judge on BBC One’s prime time show Strictly Come Dancing. Originally from Wallasey, Shirley has been dancing since the age of 7. She is 3-time ‘British Open to the World’ Latin American Champion, 10-time US Latin American Champion, and multiple-times British National Champion. Shirley is one of the most renowned dancers in the world.

Elizabeth Buchan began her career as a blurb writer at Penguin Books after graduating from the University of Kent with a double degree in English and History. She moved on to become a fiction editor at Random House before leaving to write full time.

Elizabeth Buchan’s short stories are broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and published in magazines. She is a past reviewer for the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail, and has chaired the Betty Trask and Desmond Elliot literary prizes. She was a judge for the Whitbread First Novel Award and for the 2014 Costa Novel Award. She is a patron of the Guildford Book Festival.
