The Thousand Year Tree is a 32 page paperback, published in October 2024 in collaboration between Weyfield Primary Academy; Lucy Reynolds, author; Katie Hickey, illustrator; Guildford Book Festival; Surrey Hills Society; Surrey Hills National Landscape; Surrey County Council; Surrey Libraries; and Old Dungate Press.
This stunning book, celebrates and brings to life the ancient yew trees at Newlands Corner, introducing young readers to the thousand years of history the trees have witnessed.
The book has been co-created with the children of Guildford's Weyfield Primary Academy and the endpapers designed via a Surrey-wide competition, which attracted 542 entries across all 52 Surrey libraries.
